‘BIM for Dummies’ out next year

BIM looks to have officially moved into mainstream with the imminent launch of BIM for Dummies, the latest edition of the “world’s bestselling reference brand”.

The book, published by Wiley, is co-authored by David Philp FCIOB, head of BIM implementation at the Cabinet Office, who recently took part in a debate to launch BIM+.

The other co-authors are Stefan Mordue, a member of the Construction Industry Council BIM 2050 group and  technical author and architect at NBS, RIBA Enterprises’ data services offshoot, and Paul Swaddle, a business solutions consultant at NBS.

Commenting on the release, Annie Knight, commissioning editor at Wiley, explained how BIM’s growing importance prompted the commission.

"BIM has grown in importance hugely in recent years and has been widely adopted, not just in the UK but also in the US, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Singapore, South Korea, France, Lithuania, Norway, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Canada.

"This book would be a useful resource for owners and clients, architects and designers, engineers, quantity surveyors, local authorities, manufacturers, contractors, builders and students,” she said.

Priced £21.99, BIM for Dummies is scheduled for release on 31 July 2015, and is available for pre-order now.
