Boardman peddles benefits of collaboration at Trimble event

Trimble’s recent annual conference at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry was attended by individuals from all aspects of the industry with a passion for digital construction.

Following a welcome talk from Richard Ogden, CEO of BuildOffSite, a motivating and inspiring speech was delivered by Chris Boardman MBE on the psychology of winning.

The Olympic cyclist’s talk instilled the benefits of being open minded to adopt new ways of working, in order to get the best out of a situation. This connected nicely to the remaining informative and engaging discussions about the many benefits a collaborative approach to a project can deliver to all teams involved.

Delegates were also presented with a project example from Jason Hyde (Mott MacDonald) and Jagvinder Singh (Aecom), where collaboration and digital construction has been applied to a current project in Manchester.

This major project has managed to save a significant amount of time and money – in fact, £1m was saved due to collaboration alone.

There was also an overview from Trimble’s experts on how Tekla Structural Designer can help with the flow of communication on projects to enable collaboration as well as to reduce RFIs and much more.
