AI tech helps monitor 100ha solar farm construction

An automated construction progress tracking solution is being used to monitor progress of the construction of Poland’s largest solar farm.

The solar farm is being built on a 100ha site in Brudzew, central Poland, on the site of a former brown-coal strip mine by photovoltaic installations specialist Esoleo. It is using AI Clearing’s technology to monitor the farm’s construction.

AI Clearing’s technology uses artificial intelligence to compare data supplied by drones with project documentation from CAD/BIM designs. This allows managers of large infrastructure projects to monitor the progress of work “almost in real time” and to assess compliance with the design and schedule.

AI Clearing is tracking metrics including the completion of piles, racks, modules, trenches and roads. The project is scheduled to be completed in August.

“Building a solar farm over such a large area is a huge organisational challenge,” said Esoleo project director Miroslaw Soltysiak. “AI Clearing’s technology allows us to use the data we collect faster and better, and to monitor the pace of work.”

AI Clearing co-founder Adam Wisniewsk said: “We’re confident that our solution will ensure the work proceeds on time and according to plan.”

AI Clearing’s solution is used by the likes of Vinci and top 10 US main contractor PCL Construction.
