CDBB clients group outlines 2021 objectives

The Centre for Digital Built Britain’s Buildings Client Group has outlined its objectives for 2021.

The objectives are:

  • to support members’ development of digital transformation strategies;
  • to maintain links with other networks, as well as working with the Construction Innovation Hub and Centre for Digital Built Britain programmes (such as the National Digital Twin programme); and
  • to increase digital maturity of member organisations through transparent benchmarking and insight sharing, including the sharing of case studies to provide real world examples of digital transformation.

The group is a cross-sector community that advocates digital transformation within their own organisations and the wider built environment. Its members come from across the public sectors including Landsec, John Lewis & Partners, Legal & General, Homes England and Coventry University.

Neil Pennell, the group’s chair and Landsec’s head of design, innovation & property solutions, said: “It’s fair to say that I have a keen curiosity for how the digitisation of the built environment will evolve and what the impact will be on the future design, delivery and operation of buildings. This Group provides a platform to share experiences and learn from each other, something that our members really value.

“There are many different interests and perspectives within the group; some members are focused on how they make their own organisations more aware of the opportunities digital transformation can bring and address the internal barriers to change. Others, like myself, are interested in how we can apply digital technology to design and construct buildings and use digital twins to improve their operational efficiency.

“The aim is to provide an opportunity for everybody to learn from each other to accelerate the digital transformation of our own organisations and then share that experience with clients across all the interest sectors we represent.”

He concluded: “Our community is always ready to welcome new members keen to proactively contribute towards us achieving our collective goals. We need early adopters, risk takers, collaborators, networkers, innovative thinkers, people who are willing to share. Interested? Contact [email protected].”
