Chinese property giant bids to gain BSI kitemark

China’s largest commercial property group, Wanda, is aiming to become the first company in the country to be certified with the BSI’s BIM Level 2 kitemark.

To this end, staff and supply chain members from Wanda Group received training from the Digital City Infrastructure and Technology Innovation Laboratory (D-CiTi Lab). The centre is run by Professor Llewellyn Tang, a leader in the cooperation of BIM and digital  construction cooperation between the UK and China.

D-CiTi Lab, based at the Nottingham University’s Chinese campus in Ningbo, China, is the strategic partner of the British Standards Institute (BSI) in mainland China and has been training construction companies and their supply chains in BIM standards, certification systems, industry application methods, as well as providing other guidance.

This training details UK Level 2 BIM status and its supporting standards (PAS 1192-2 and PAS 1192-3). In addition, the aim of the training is to assist Wanda in applying the first BSI kitemark Certification in China.

Through this training, Wanda’s management board can gain a better understanding of the UK BIM standards and certification systems, laying a solid foundation for the company to obtain the BSI kitemark certification and providing technical support for the implementation of the ISO BIM transition in the next phase.

D-CiTi Lab integrates research and innovation on BIM and Smart City development. The laboratory is supported by extensive state-of-art, modern equipment and key experts from the University of Nottingham and other associated pioneering work of researchers and practitioners.

It aims to engage in problem discovery and solution design with leading users, developers and adopters of BIM further to develop BIM codes and its R&D in China based on the Digital Built Britain (DBB) programme.

The British Standards Institution and University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) have jointly developed the BIM management training courses with the purpose of cultivating senior BIM managerial staff who are leading the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

Wanda Group embarked on enabling digital transformation four years ago and has developed Wanda Building Information Modelling (BIM) System and Wanda Intelligent Building Management.
