Construction tech start-ups have less than six weeks to pitch for investment from Cemex, Ferrovial and Vinci.
The Construction Start-up Competition, run by Cemex’s innovation unit and VC arm Cemex Ventures, focuses this year on five key areas: carbon footprint mitigation; supply chain management; efficient jobsite and built environment; advanced building materials; and new construction methods.
The deadline is 27 June. The winners will be announced on 26 October.
Last year’s winner was Modulous, a British start-up that has developed an AI platform to that enables high-speed design and delivery of affordable and sustainable homes on a global basis. It emerged victorious from 700 entrants.
As well as Cemex, Ferrovial and Vinci’s VC arm Leonard, also involved in judging the competition and potentially funding the winners are: Hilti; Saint-Gobain’s VC arm, Nova; Korea-based investment group GS Futures; and Dysruptek, the VC arm of Florida-based contractor Haskell.

Once again, this year we managed to reunite entities with great knowledge of the industry, not just in the areas of materials, machinery, infrastructure, and processes.
