Wincanton seeks construction logistics innovation

Construction digital start-ups have until 28 February to apply for support from logistics giant Wincanton.

Wincanton’s W2 Labs start-up incubator offers a ten-week programme that allows the chosen start-ups to trial their products at scale and receive mentoring and funding from Wincanton and corporate innovation specialist L Marks. This is the third sprint; the first two focused on warehousing and people.

Wincanton stated: “As recognised experts in the delivery of logistics services to the construction sector, our goal is to be at the forefront of enabling a digital and integrated construction supply chain. We are keen to hear from businesses with solutions which can help to ensure time and cost certainty for large scale construction projects, deliver better visibility and traceability of construction materials, synchronised scheduling of materials, and help our colleagues to operate safely on site.

“We are also interested in technologies which can be used to manage a reverse supply chain – this includes eliminating waste and encouraging a more sustainable use of materials in order to help drive a circular economy.”

Wincanton’s construction clients include Aggregate Industries, Breedon, Brett, EDF Energy and Ibstock. In the 2019/20 year, the company generated £138.2m of revenue from the construction sector, up 1.1% from the previous year.
