Nine new awards to recognise digital excellence

New awards have been announced to recognise innovation and talent in the construction sector.

The Digital Construction Awards have been set up by Digital Construction Week to celebrate the most pioneering projects, teams and individuals championing innovation and technology in the built environment across nine categories.

The awards are open to the entire industry and are being held on 17 October 2018 at The Crystal in London (pictured above), during Digital Construction Week. The nine categories are:

  • Project Innovation of the Year   
  • Business/Digital Transformation   
  • The Collaborative Built Environment     
  • Best Project over £5m
  • Best Project under £5m
  • Digital Training & Skills Initiative of the Year
  • Best Application of Technology
  • Champions of R&D Innovation Award
  • Digital Excellence Award

Categories will be judged by a panel of acknowledged industry leaders, representing a wide spectrum of disciplines and expertise from across the AECO industries.  

Judging takes place in two stages: shortlist and selection. Shortlisted entrants will be invited to a central London location to present their entry to the judging panel. The winning finalists will then be selected and announced on the night of the awards.

Judges are: Sir Mark Walport, chief executive of UK Research and Innovation; Mark Farmer, CEO of Cast and author of Modernise or DieAlex Lubbock, head of digital construction, Infrastructure Projects Authority; Andrew Pryke, managing director, BAM Design; Anne Kemp, chair, UK BIM Alliance; David Philp, Digital Built Britain; Elizabeth Kavanagh, head of HR, research & innovation, Stride Treglown; Neil Thompson, CEO, dotBuiltEnvironment; Maggie Brown, innovation manager, EDF Energy NNB; Stephen Radley, director of policy and strategic planning, CITB; Denise Chevin, editor, Bimplus.co.uk; Stephen Good, CEO, Construction Scotland Innovation Centre.
