Nuclear professionals join UK BIM Alliance

The Nuclear Institute has joined the UK BIM Alliance affiliate programme.

The Nuclear Institute is the professional body for the nuclear industry and represents almost 3,000 professionals at all levels across the sector, from new build and operations to decommissioning.

Alastair Laird, a Nuclear Institute trustee, said: "Digitalisation of the nuclear sector is not something that happens overnight; however, our progressive approach to BIM, embracing new technologies and digitalisation corresponds to high levels of active participation in our Special Interest Group and provides a focus for discussion and change. It is therefore great to become part of a wider BIM community and to be able to share multiple sector learning through co-operation."

Andy Boutle, UK BIM Alliance Engagement co-lead, said: "We are delighted to further diversify the affiliate programme by welcoming on board the Nuclear Institute. It’s clear they already have a mature and very active digital community whom we look forward to working with."

The Affiliate programme aims to bring together the professional institutions, trade associations and any other industry organisations to provide a consistent message and coordinated approach to digital transformation, working across silos to a shared objective.
