Free training on digital construction, net zero, and retrofitting has been launched by the Scottish Construction Leadership Forum (CLF).

The suite of continuing professional development (CPD) modules is aimed at educators so the information will be passed down to a wide variety of learners.

It is being hosted on the Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) website, whom CLF worked with to develop the material. BE-ST was formerly known as the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC).

Included in the suite of courses is Understanding Digital Construction by BE-ST; Introduction to Retrofit by the Association for Environment Conscious Building; and a course on timber technologies and innovation by Edinburgh Napier University.

The launch follows on from CLF’s Scottish data dashboard to collect and disseminate statistical knowledge, as well as its Built Environment Workforce Development Portal, a guide to reskilling and upskilling.

BE-ST associate impact manager for the digital team, Kirsty Duncan, said: “The modules will hopefully benefit the sector through educators sharing their learnings with further students/colleagues and industry allowing for these technologies and skills and practices to become more adopted within industry.”

She added the courses will be “short and to the point” and will include case studies, videos and real-life scenarios. They are free of charge and users will be able to study at their own pace, and certificates will be awarded on completion.
