Verbal emergency alert functionality added to safety platform

Emergency alerts can now be raised verbally on the Ramtech site safety platform.

Ramtech has introduced a new audio recording feature on its React platform, which allows users to raise an alert verbally and share details of an emergency, such as fire or water risk.

Giving site managers more ways to interact with the site safety team, the update is already being used in the UK and internationally, including by Laing O’Rourke and Turner Construction.

John Newbury, product innovation director at Ramtech, said the platform is designed to provide real-time notifications, ensuring critical information is sent to those on and off site via the mobile app and desktop management interface.

“Previously, text and images could be sent across the React network, but the addition of audio recordings creates a whole new level of functionality,” he added.

“After a slow start, the construction industry is now going through massive transformation, led by the adoption of technology. McKinsey analysis has revealed that more than £200bn has been invested in engineering and construction-based software solutions over the past decade, showing the appetite for technology like this. We’re excited that Ramtech is part of this transformation.”

The latest update to the React platform follows an extension introduced by Ramtech in February, which enables automatic water leak detection on construction sites.

Andrew Swindells, senior health and safety manager at Laing O’Rourke, said: “Ramtech’s React platform is a permanent fixture on our sites now, such as Everton Football Club’s new stadium under construction at Bramley-Moore Dock, and gives the reassurance needed during projects with so many moving parts and personnel.”
