Landsec’s pioneering Forge project scooped two trophies at the Digital Construction Awards last night (12 July) before 400 of the industry’s leading lights.

The Forge won Digital Construction Project of the Year, sponsored by Revizto, and Digital Innovation in Offsite Construction, sponsored by Construction Management. As well as Landsec as the client, the Forge features the expertise of Bryden Wood, Sir Robert McAlpine, Mace and NG Bailey. The Forge is an office development in Southwark, London, that has demonstrated the capability of platform design for manufacture and assembly.

Bryden Wood also won the Best Application of Technology category, sponsored by Digital Construction Week, for its automated cable routing management system as used by Transport for London.

Also among the winners were Skanska for its GeoBIM solution, which won the Digital Excellence in a Construction Business category, sponsored by Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Vinci for its application of smart data on the HCA cancer care hospital in Birmingham, which won the Best Use of Data category, sponsored by the UK BIM Alliance.

Skanska also featured in winning entries from MWH Treatment (Digital Innovation In Design, sponsored by BIMplus) and Lynch (Delivering Net Zero with Digital Innovation, sponsored by Zero).

On-site BIM cave wins

Digital Construction Technologies’ and Collen Construction’s joint-development of an on-site BIM cave secured the Digital Partnership award, sponsored by Bluebeam, while Paperless Construction’s work with Eurovia to digitise the latter’s health and safety processes helped it to win the Digital Innovation in Health, Safety & Wellbeing category, sponsored by the Association for Project Safety.

But it wasn’t all about big, established names: XYZ Reality’s augmented reality helmet, the Atom, won the Digital Innovation in On-site Productivity award, sponsored by Procore; and Visual 5D won the Digital Excellence in a Construction SME category, sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Emma Hooper, associate director and head of R&D at Bond Bryan Digital, was awarded Digital Construction Champion of the Year, sponsored by Solibri.
