BIM in 2018: have your say

NBS has launched its eighth annual National BIM Survey and this year is looking to see how far BIM has now become “business as usual” for the design community.

The 2017 report from NBS highlighted an increasing frustration from construction professionals on the lack of clarity and enforcement by the government of its own BIM Level 2 mandate.

With BIM awareness at near universal levels and BIM adoption steadily increasing year on year, the 2018 survey will be a good indicator on whether this perceived lack of support from government will have a direct impact on this steady growth.

NBS chief executive Richard Waterhouse said: “The 2017 BIM report told us that although adopting BIM is not easy, it’s worth doing, and this is the story that we need to continue to tell; how BIM is improving client outcomes, as well as ROI for those in the design and construction sectors.”

As a vital resource for the UK construction industry and policy makers, the 2018 survey will once again be a sort after resource as the industry continues to strive for increased adoption and understanding of BIM and wider digital ways of working.
